Law Firm
Washington, DC
Neels & Company was brought in to help the firm’s hiring committee develop strategies to generate more interest on campuses at top-ten law schools where this firm historically had little success.
Understanding that on-campus recruiting is critical to a firm’s growth, Neels & Company encouraged the committee to think creatively about how they could stand out in a sea of employers on campus. The firm’s partners and associates contacted students and professors at their former law schools. Many accepted alumni speaking opportunities and were able to network with students prior to the on-campus events. This “pre-emptive strike” allowed the firm to connect with students who were unaware of all that the law firm had to offer potential summer associates.
The hiring committee was also very eager to learn what the term “Millennial” meant as it applies to the generation of people born between 1979 and 2000 (i.e., your new law school graduates!). Understanding who Millennials are, what they want and how to attract them put this firm ahead of its competition by focusing on the types of pro bono work that was available, highlighting the firm’s support of charitable causes and including the new graduates parents in the hiring process. The summer of 2006 was a major success.
